MLS liberated
NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY COMMISSION (NUC) has approved the curriculum for MLS.D (Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science) programme.
The programme will run for 6years & there will no longer be specialization at 1st degree. All ChemPath, Haematology, Medical Microbiology & Histopathology Courses in Yr 5 under B.MLS have been re-structured to fit into Yr5 & Yr6 of the MLS.D programme.
Upon graduation with a MLS.D degree, Medical Laboratory Scientists will be well trained as a GENERAL PRACTITIONER in MLS.
Those who have a B.MLS & wishes to have MLS.D will apply for Direct Entry & start from LEVEL 500.
If you do not wish to, you can proceed to do your M.Sc & Ph.D.
Meanwhile, the B.MLS programme will continue until the MLS.D programme gradually phase it out, just like our present B.MLS phased out the B.Sc & Associate programme that were hitherto the original qualifications.
